I've got an opportunity to create a new logo and business card for a construction company - Marek Drab.
My main goal was to create a logo that would encapsulate the company's values and services while keeping the initials of the company name - Marek Drab (MD).
- construction works
- located in Eastern part of Slovakia
- encapsulate values and services
- recognizable by others
- simplicity and modern 2D look
- keeping the initials of the name
From that I moved to paper and I started drawing some sketches while browsing internet for ideas. I am always trying to make at least 15 possible versions even if I find the one I really like.
After a while (a lot of prototyping) I came up with something I liked and was ready to recreate it in Figma.

Having the initials - MD - still in place showing the combination of both I've managed to capture my first goal.

Looking at it, for a little bit longer you may notice that it is a room, or a space that is showcasing the place where construction works are taking place. In your apartment or a house. Showing the goal we're heading towards.
When I got the logo ready It was time to pick a colours. I ended up with 3 colour combinations - one of them is monochromatic.
Hynuadi Yellow
#FFBD59
Raisin Black
#202024
The colours I picked reflected the things, we as a people connect with construction work. Psychology says that the yellow colour reflects the construction, hope and trust. While black color complements these things and adds serious, quality vibe to it.
From that I managed to craft these results.

My next steps were to make a full logo with the name and service so it would be clear to all, what this symbol means.
Started playing around with Fonts I found 2 of them which I really liked and they become the also used in the final version.

Putting it all together I got the ready the full logo which will be later used also as a business card front page. Also all of them were done in 3 versions.

Goal is to clearly showcase what it is - construction works. And for people to remember the name next time they see it. Making it clear and stunning to their eye without the noise.
Looking back at our goals I believe that I checked all of them.
Designing business card
I got a list of things that must be there so I started with that.
- name
- phone
- website (possibly with QR)
- offered services (5 services listed)
After going through a lot of versions I decided to keep one.
It incorporates the name - again - which is to be remembered. I also included the place of business, which can potentially build credibility and feel more trustworthy.
Moving onto the phone number - the font there is the biggest it is located in the dotted border. Why? Well it feels like there is an interaction possible. And you are pretty much an interaction away. It effectively directs focus exactly where we intended it to be.
Next, we have the services - and there's a lot of them. I streamlined their names by removing unnecessary endings and simplifying them for better clarity and easier understanding.

I designed a business card that stands out in a sea of others, using bold colors and a distinctive style to immediately capture attention.
The logo is subtly placed in the background with very low opacity, integrating it into the overall design and reinforcing it's presence throughout the entire process.
That is the complete overview - breaking down the thought process with some simplifications to illustrate how I designed this logo.
